This is Part 3 of the tipes and information that I can provide you. Before, I'd like to tell you that I'm very
excited about my next camera lense!!! I was hesitating between Nikkor or Sigma brand: simple 70-300 mm f4.5-6. I will go to Kerala after my internship, and I plan to visite this beautiful state
in the southern of India. I need a lense up to 300mm for wildlife photography because I currently have a
18-70mm. So my internship isn't ended that I already think about what can I do for the next steps!
TRAVELING TO/IN INDIA
1. Traveling to India: You can buy a very cheap flight from Lyon to Chennai by
Colombo (Sri anka) The cost is only 300 euros (18 600 rupees) with Sri Lankan Airlines. I paid the double last time: 645 euros.
2. Traveling in India (place to place): The best choice is by train, but it takes more time than flight of course but you can enjoy some amazing landscape, share good
times with other customer (like on bus) especialy for large and long haul! Exemple of price is Pondicherry (tamil nadu) to villupuram to Kollam (Kerala) cost 240 rupees (4 euros) within
sleeper class, for a lenght of 11hours . For short haul, you should take the bus, per exemple Chennai to Pondicherry, there are buses every 10 minutes (244 km).
3. Traveling in India (to discover a place): Some people rent a car and driver for few days, the cost is 12 000 rupees (200 euros) for 8 days. But you should rent your own mob
or bicycle, because many road aren't enough large for a 4 wheels.
This isn't my picture (only one take on flirk) temporary for tonight
This post is currently under construction 'because I need some rest to find what I can write... If you need further information, just ask me by posting a comment!

Where could you go for breakfast, lunch and dinner and spend good time? There is many place in Pondy or
in Auroville you can eat some nice dishes. (Photo for soOn and I will updated when I test more)
Chinese/vietnamese food:
1. Blue Dragon, is close to the promenade, they provide good service with large choice of dishes, I don't remind the price here, but it was not very
expensive. Not very good and not very bad cooking.
2. On the road to Aurobeach, 7 km far from Pondy, there is a very nice vietnamese restaurant call: "Paris restaurant" The only one restaurant in
Aurobeach where you can find some beer. Price is correct, you can have steack with french fries or vietnamese dishes like vegetable chicken within famous nuoc mam homemade sauce. The owner have
been in France for 10 years, so you can speak french with him.
French/Italian:
3. Satsanga is mainly french cooking, but you can have some italian pizza. For a starter it is under 60 rupees (basicaly 1 euros) and the main dishes is
from 80-90 rupees to 200 rupees (3 euros). You can find this nice place in "Ville Blanche".
4. Le Cafe is the only one restaurant on the promenade, people said that it is mainly frequented by local people, but each time I'm coming around the
promenade I see only western customer... The price is too high for the quality of cooking, but the place is on the front of the beach.
5. L'Aristo is located in Nehru Street, very close to my office actually, french and indian cooking, the terrace is on the roof, you can enjoy nice view
from here. I used to take my lunch here because they are fast and good: from 40-50 rupees (-1euros) to 200 rupees a dishes. (3 euros). Mainly french customer.
6. On the road to Auroville from Aurobeach: "New creation" is italian pizza restaurant own by italian aurovillien, there is mainly western customer
too: Pizza cost from 80 rupees (1 euros) to 300 rupees (5 euros).
Indian

decide to include
some information in my blog and show you some useful tips in India, especially around here in Tamil Nadu. Why today? I don't really know why, but I think I spent enough time in this part
of India, and discover a minimum of indian life to speak about. From the beginning I love this country, so I would like to share with you my little experience in this Incredible country! I
thank you in advance to follow my adventure and to post nice comment on my blog which help me to submit and updated more and more photography! This week end I plan to visit India deeply
and take more pictures of the Indian life .. and of me (fews thoughts to my family)!
48 Day after, I have to confess the fact that I have never been in other place of
India, I used to go to fisherman village close to Auroville, and one time in Chennai, where I spent one fully day in this hell! There was too much traffic with noisy atmosphere! I prefer
my small village Pondicherry with our eight hundreds thousand habitants, but it is not look like any city from this size. I leave you discover by yourself how Pondicherry life is quiet
and peaceful, even if on rush hours! You can visit the street gallery there: ECE on the Road
By many way, Pondicherry, now Puducherry (which mean "The new
village") is unique place in India, because it is a union territory of India. So here, you can enjoy very low taxes on many goods from electronics devices, to alcohol or cigarette
(but the law is very strict: drinking and smoking is forbidden in public place) and any common goods. In
Pondicherry, the french influences are visible in this whole place, you can easily meet french speaker, and most of time they are frenchies. All my friends
said that Pondicherry
doesn't look like India. Because Indian are more friendly in other state! There aren't a lot of poverty nor insecurity, you can enjoy your travel here without thinking about your
safety.
The living price in Pondicherry:
Exemple of prices:
Ps: we are in these kind of country where people use to negotiate for everything, but sometimes you have to follow
the marketprice, according to some friends, the price can go up to 50% more than needed... for nothing.
TRANSPORTATION
Rickshaw:
1. Inner city : 30 ruppees (less than 1
euros) rickshaw is actually a tree wheels taxi, you can find them everywhere in the city, there are no really competition between taxidriver, so the price is very close from one to
another one.
2. District to district, the price can be up to 60 rupees (1 euros)
3. Puducherry to Aurobeach by rickshaw: 100 rupees (one way)
4. Chennai to Pundicherry by taxi (four wheels
this details is mostly important) is only 2000 rupees (30 euros)
Rickshaw
Mob:
1. Small size: 50-80 rupees (0.77-1.23 euros) a
day
1. Bigger size: 100-150 rupees (1.50 - 2.30 euros) a
day
Bus: (It is depending on the destination, I took two
busline)
1. Pondicherry to Chennai: 55 Rupees for a seat place and same price for
a standing place.
2. Pondicherry to Aurobeach (6km
far) only 3 rupees (0.0463612 euros, today exchange rate without any comission) The duration of the travel used to be less than
thirty minute. You should travel by this way one time, because it is very funny! On the road to your destination you can share great times with people, just enough time to speak about
...[Photo is coming soOn!]
ickshaw:
BREAKFAST - LUNCH - DINNER
Restaurant/Coffee bar:
1. Restaurant on the road/street: from 10 to 40 rupees for a dishes
(only indian traditionnal food)

3. Tourist restaurant: from 80 to 200 rupees for a
dishes.
4. For whealthy people restaurant: from 150 to 500 ruppes and more for a

NEWS
1. The Hindu Newspapper is the first indian daily newspapper, I used to
buy one every two days because it is amazingly cheap : 3,25 rupees!! There is good information and not too much Ads. It is writting in a perfect english (more perfect than mine of course!) The Hindu is the most circulated periodical in India with more than 1 102 800 copies daily!
2. The Sunday Times of India cost less thant 3 rupees, I can't remind exactly
which price it is, sorry...I don't know how they can get any profit: papper, ink and labour are
more cheap than cheap here lol
FOOD
You have many choice in Puducherry to buy fresh food.
1. The Big Market provide all you needed, from
vegetable/fruit to meat/seafood, it is a big place open every day morning to evening. But like everywhere in this world, the best time is on morning after 8 am. And after
twelve there are no more seafood, so for fish lover you should wake up early!! BM is nn the crossing of the Gandhi street and the Nehru street.
Vegetable/fruit: from 20 to 50 rupees a kg! depending on which one.
Meat: 80 up to 150 rupees a kg
Seafood: 100 to 150 rupees a kg
2. You can find common goods for the house in Supermarket and sometimes few
vegetable, but is better if you can buy in BM.
3. Homedelivery :0 actually it is some merchant who coming everyday in the front
of your house and sell some vegetable, fish and more... I don't know the price of this services, but I think it is the same price that you can have in the market, it is only a suposition
(I will check tomorrow morning )
COMMUNICATION
1. Internet : the cost is around 20 rupees (0.3 euros) for 1 hour , but most of time
connection are very slow and computer not updated... You need to be patient.
2. NetPhone (voIP): 2 rupees (0.03 euros) a minute to France, USA and more...
3. Local call is very cheep, you have phone by coin everywhere in town
4. You can buy your own phone and enough balance for 1 month (local communication) : 1300 rupees (20 euros)
